APS Course Information

Only individuals registered with the Nevada PILB who possess a hard plastic permanent guard card are authorized to take the firearm course; those in provisional status cannot. To become armed, you must be employed by a licensee who sponsors you for the course, adds you to their online roster, and provides a signed Verification of Employment Armed Security (VEAS) form for the Certified Firearm Instructor (CFI). The course is two days long, totaling 13 hours, and includes instruction, practical application, and live fire training, with handgun qualification facilitated by the CFI.

PSOC is designed exclusively for private security, Federal Government, DoD, and law enforcement professionals interested in learning modern methods for executive protection and personal security of high-net-worth or ‘at-risk’ individuals. This five-day certification program is approved training by multiple Federal Government, state, and corporate organizations and is the only major university-accredited protective services training program in the United States. This highly academic and practical application-based training course creates a comprehensive and balanced foundation for prospective or current members of protective details. Subject matter comprises the most progressive and relevant doctrine currently available for individuals seeking instruction in new EP practices. The primary goal of PSOC is to professionally educate and train those tasked with protective operations.

RSOC students will learn how to be successful in high net-worth family residential settings. PFC teaches a modern approach to protective customer service, where client comfort and convenience are balanced with safety and security. This blending of hard skills and soft skills training gives PFC graduates the edge during field operations and client interaction.

Modern protective operations (especially of the low visibility nature) often require judgment, discretion, and unique skills. Particularly, it is critical that security personnel possess the ability to perform surveillance in support of the principal, property, venues or distinctive operational needs that may emerge. From corporate confidentiality to workplace violence to special events, the Protection Agent must be capable of becoming one with the environment, working with and disseminating information as part of a team, all while gathering data through the establishment of exploitable patterns.

Executive Protection or personal security specialists wear many hats during the execution of their duties and being a first responder to medical emergencies is no exception. Challenges can include minor bumps and bruises, injuries to associates or family, care in austere environments, attacks on the principal, and self-initiated evacuation.

Proper usage of motor vehicles is a critical factor and requirement in executive driving or protective security operations. Safe and proper conduct can make the difference between clients being pleased or dissatisfied at best, or alive or dead at worst. PDOC is a 3-day certification course that introduces students to the principles, procedures and counter-measures associated with protective driving and is considered essential for professional drivers of corporate clients or at-risk individuals.
